A virtually uninterrupted recording -- lasting more than two hours -- of a healing trance dance performed by a Bushman community in Bere, Botswana. Hear the natural development and ebb and flow of songs over the course of an extended dance.

Polyphonic and improvisatory yet very highly structured, the music of Earth's first people is extraordinary among the world's musics. And the powerful "trance dance" tradition documented here is the deep spiritual wellspring of Bushman music. Performed in two concentric circles around a fire and generally lasting through the whole night, these songs help induce an ecstatic or mystical state in the dancing healers.
